Cliff Watson (band leader)
Added by Alan Wilson on 20th Oct 2011
It is with much sadness that we have to announce the recent death of Cliff Watson, trombonist and founder of the Stannary Jazzmen.
Cliff ran the band for many years and enjoyed every minute of it.
Although retiring from playing a few years ago he continued to support the band when we played in the Moretonhampstead area.
The band played at his funeral and gave him a good send off which I am sure he would been delighted with, he will be missed.
The band is shortly to return to our former residency at the White Hart Hotel Moretonhampstead on the 1st Sunday of each month commencing on 4th November 2012. We hope to see many of our old friends and followers again.
John Westaway has decided to retire from playing after being a staunch member of the band for many years. The vacancy in the chords department is to be occupied by Pete Miller on tenor guitar and banjo.
